Portugal

Portugal is home to both excellent wine production and an admirable tradition of wine tasting and tourism. With several dozen wineries open to visitors across the country, from the sprawling Alentejo region to the verdant hillsides of Algarve, travelers are sure to find something that suits their taste buds.

One historic region worth exploring is Douro Valley – long time producer of Port wines made for export; which boast some of Portugal’s most spectacular scenery.

Located in UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site, this stunning swath spans more than fifty miles between southern Spain and northern Portugal where dramatic rock formations jut upwards amidst swathes of vineyards with cascading rivers snaking along below. Visitors can experience this scenic beauty firsthand aboard a cruise ship stopping at various points along these pristine waterways before ending up back in one of two picturesque towns – Vinho Verde or Porto.
